Captain of the Flying Dutchman :
My players have spent the last three seasons getting as far away from the story’s plot as possible. Jokes on them they needed to find the mystery McGaffin and recruit a few unlucky hero’s to help them defeat the BBEG of this area. I watched as they made the decision to leave the hero’s and the McGaffin behind to flea and protect themselves. Two things have happened with this. One of the “hero’s” will be an even greater BBEG later on in the campaign. He was left with tools that shouldn’t have been given to him by one of the players. The other is that I let them all level up two levels. There were smiles and cheers. My brother (who knows the campaign and is one of the players) sees that I’m not joining in on the celebration. He asked me “what’s up” to which I slid the card over to him for the BBEG. Needless to say he wasn’t smiling and was looking at the rest of his cohorts with doom written on his face.
