@steven: Jeremy Grantham is one of the world's most respected investors and someone who predicted every major market crash. He says young people simply can't afford to buy a house anymore. And argues that back in 1994 in the UK, the average house cost 3.4 times your family income. But today it's over 10 times that. Are house prices ever going to fall? #house #buyingahouse #newhome #thediaryofaceo #investment
Buy a house and pay it off as soon as possible. Its not an investment its a critical element for the quality of life after retirement

The problem is wages don’t go up the same amount. If we stopped allowing businesses to exist where the C suite made 100x what the workers did, more people could afford to bid

A house paid off at 65 is cheaper than an apartment rented at 65.

My first house after 12 years only increased by $25,000. That may seem small but I got to live in it and got my money back when sold. With an apartment u move u get nothing. Lease for a year or sell and wait a year. I still win.

I bought my 1st house at 20 for 117k. I just bought my 14th house at 47 for 3.2 million in Westwood in Los Angeles. My 1st apartment was a huge 1 bedroom for $420. My son’s in an apartment and it’s $2500.

if u don't buy a house, u still need a place to stay in, so u end up renting, half your salary going for rent to pay some one else mortgage where eventually he will own the house not u ... its supply and demand prices will not go infinitely up but will steady if not many people can afford it, but with time its usually goes up, .. im mid 40s own to properties fully paid plus other investments.. best decisions i made in my life to go early as both went in value as the years go buy and when retire I don't need worry about rent

Houses used to just be something that people own to live in more secure than renting now people are utilizing it as retirement fund so of course nobody wants prices to go down

I also wish property taxes would also go away once you pay off your house so the elderly people with little to no income don’t have to worry about Property Taxes going up every year.
