@blitzphd: So it turns out, Galilean relativity is not only not as intuitive as I thought, but it is expressly counterintuitive for many folks. So here's a basic explainer! #physics #Galilean #relativity #DidYouKnow #learnontiktokcontest
dont we live through this everyday anyway since the earth is always on the move or is that different?

in 7th grade my SCIENCE teacher was asked what would happen if the earth suddenly stopped moving. she said she didnt know but we would probably feel something. my 9th grade physics teacher aptly explained that we would all get launched and die.

Funny how they used to use boats in those thought experiments since trains didn't exist yet

We don’t feel the motion, we feel the acceleration.

Yes, another answer is that the drone is going 800,000 km/hr in orbit around the core of the Milky Way galaxy.

There was a cool video where a truck was moving at 60mph. A guy on a spring loaded chair sprung backwards at 60 mph. As he came off the the truck he was at zero mph and he had no momentum and just stood there.

The drone in this video kind of breaks my brain. I understand the thrown ball or a person jumping because they are moving forward relative to the ground before going into the air. But the drone hovering seems like it would need to have its own forward momentum relative to the ground because once it launches it would not be inheriting the momentum of the car.

I'm thick. So the drone has adopted the momentum of the car and continues forward due to... its whole local environment including air is acting as one entity? But if you dismantled the car as it was moving and the locally static drone was exposed to exterior forces, would it slow down/stop and be left behind? Or if the drone flew vertically up out of the local relative static air, it would be forced to slow when it entered the global air environment? I swear I'm not a flat earther, just slow. 😂

the drone has sensors to know it's relative position in the car
