@michaelamushelelo: “City of Windhoek is Utterly & deliberately misleading and deceptive! Under Section 14(2)(a) of the local Authoritys Act, residents have the right to attend council deliberations, meaning all special and ordinary meetings must be open to the public, except for matters explicitly exempted by the Act( such as confidential personnel or legal issues). Nowhere in the standing rules of order is the public prohibited from being in the gallery at this special council meeting ( deputation) , C.o.W is a public institution and this matter is of public interest it is critical. Council has no prerogative to deliberately misinterpret the purpose of our invite to our members and residents as stated on our poster, by miscontruing our intention for sharing the invite to our member and residents. Its not our message that the public or members are allowed to actively participate or engage in the deputation meeting by addressing council members, we acquainted and even taught the CoW what deputation is and is thus well versed regarding the issue of deputation because we triggered the provision after studying it well as a team!! We advise the City to stop trying to mislead the public and allow us to have a smooth process on the 1st July 2026. Residents, Ratepayers and the entire 4th Estate we invite you to the City of Windhoek Chambers on Wednesday next week the 1st of July 2026 . Time : 17h30 Venue : City of Windhoek council Chambers Regards Shaun E Gariseb Spokesperson of the Khomas Ratepayers and Residents Association”
