SNAP is meant to help people afford groceries, not decide every personal choice someone makes. Soda might not be the healthiest option, but banning it opens the door to deciding which foods are ‘good enough’ and which aren’t. If soda gets excluded, then people could start asking why candy, chips, desserts, or other low-nutrition foods are still allowed.
