Very unnuanced and reductive debate. The answer is (as it almost always is with art): “it depends”. Plot can be vital to some movies and not that important to others same with visuals and editing. Some movies have mediocre visuals and pacing but still end up being great. Just a nothing burger argument

Most of the films that light fires in people are the ones that make sense from a story perspective. If they make no sense then there is either a very surface level excitement which I would not consider “lighting a fire” like you would see in action moments, or nostalgia. A strong plot that the audience can follow will make infinitely more impact on them than the hope that the same set of colors, compositions, shots, and cinematography will hopefully evoke a feeling by itself
