@twoparentsandapod: Newborns on a flight? No problem. Throw solo entertaining a toddler into the mix... and you’re cooked. 😂 Parents—what’s your most effective way to keep a toddler entertained on a flight?👇 #twoparentsandapod #podcast #newparents #travel #2under2
Lion King is not going to capture a 20 month olds attention. Pok Pok or shows like Ms Rachel would’ve been a better set up for you guys!

The error was showing Tate a film. They can’t concentrate for that long at that age. Maximum attention span is 5–10 minutes. So you need to show them short things like Baby Mozart, Pink Panther, Mr. Bean, Pingu, Peppa Pig, Caillou at a push. She’s probably a little younf for the latter still. There’s a reason why Baby Mozart, Baby Bach, et cetera are very popular at that age.

Lion king is not the best plan for 20 months. Shorter shows like bluey or miss Rachel

if you do a movie you need movies that move the plot quickly. Alice in wonderland or finding Nemo are the best. bluey is a better show because each episode is 9 minutes long

100% agree with you. I had triplets when my eldest was 23 months old. Everyone asked me how I could possibly handle triplets, I was like “What triplets?” The toddler/firstborn was what made it hard!

We did the exact same thing with screen time with our daughter for the first time, she was about 20 months and we flew from Michigan to to Austin and what I did was load short little episodes of Daniel Tiger’s Neighborhood and curious George things that were shorter. That would keep her attention for 15 minutes at a time versus a long movie that she would get bored with. You can also load PBS television onto the iPad, which has all of the learning shows on it and those are 15 to 20 minute episodes.

Try Little Bear, Curious George, Miss Rachel, Bluey, or other low stim, short shows.

FYI pbs kids app allows you to download shows for free. Shorter episodes and there’s so many great options (we’re a big dinosaur train and Super Why house).

lion king was too ambitious for a 20 month old. Episodes of something more her age. fingers Pokoyo narrated by Stephen fry. my eldestoved that at Tates age.

You don’t count jamming a phone in her face as screen time?

The whole no screen time in life is JUST NOT REALISTIC. The "extreme" of no screen time (you) is just as bad as the "other extreme": TV on all day long. Neither is good. Then trying something brand new on a plane...not so smart. A family movie night or a Tate/Winnie movie on a rainy day is TOTALLY FINE. Movies on a plane are THE BEST FOR ALL AGES, INCL ADULTS. Get her used to screen time at home. This is 2026. Not sure what you're trying to prove, lol.

My daughter didn’t like animation until she was 4 or so. What she loved was watching children. There were videos called Baby Songs & she loved them. Try something with children in it.
