Worth it if youve got a family. Travel insurance and airport lounges along have value. Travel also includes CDW for car rentals which can save a chunk. Hotel benefits are decent, melia gold in particular gives 3 20% off codes per year. All in all excluding points we as a family probably get about £2.5k a year in value, a lot of that being Travel.

I had it for 4 years and given it up for a HSBC elite Mastercard, much cheaper. Amex really ramped down the perks in the UK

You used to be able to bring in 2 guests with you to their lounges then they decided to cut it to just one 😒 plus their lounges aren’t that great anyway.

I got it, earned 100k points then downgraded after a year. 2 business class return flights in Q-Suites only cost my 90k points plus taxes and I got all the other perks for a year. £650 well spent 👌

I have the platinum too it really good for elevating my lifestyle. I’ve flown business a few times. There’s platinum concierge which is handy. Only thing I don’t like is I feel like when I’m paying at a restaurant they expect a massive tip

The Platinum is the right balance and I think its worth it 100%. I have the Amex Centurion and that in Europe is absolutely NOT worth it.

When I lived in a major UK city it was great but then I was relocated back to the remote provinces and it’s all small shops and they don’t take Amex. Also my nearwst airport flies budget airlines and no BA or partners where I regularly travel to so Avios not worth collecting now.

This is much better than the garbage centurion card. £3400 yearly + £3k something initiation fee, for a diamond status with Hilton + some dining credits + most incompetent concierge crew.
