i just bought a new oven and it has pro/true convection and air fry mode and most new ovens that have a convection (which i need bc I bake) have air fry. the only difference is that the convection on mine auto calibrates and requires "preheating" and air fry mode doesn't, BUT you will get better results if you let air fry run for a few minutes before you add your food. i don't have a lot of counter space, my air fryer is used a lot and takes up prep space so i do use the air fry mode on my oven to cut down on counter clutter and it holds more than the counter top one does.

yes, they both blow air around, but they're not the same. at least in the bucket style air fryer, the fan intensity is much much stronger. it does a better job and faster than a conv oven.

Thank you for the PSA! I understood this, but gimmicks be gimmicky. I use my airfryer more in the summer and my oven more in the winter because, well, summer is too hot and winter is too cold. I grill a lot in the summer but fries come out better in the oven or airfryer so I place my "fryer" as close to the range hood as I can to help vent out the hot air coming from the back of the appliance. My auxiliary appliances get stored away, but I know not everyone has storage space.

In the summer I’d rather use an air fryer over the oven doesn’t contribute more heat to the kitchen/house screw saving counter space lol

We rent, we don’t have an oven that can do convection so my air fryer sees enough time I’ll give up the counter space

I did buy this oven! 😁 I absolutely love it. the difference between convection mode and air fry mode is, air fry mode comes on at whatever temperature you set 350°... and convection warms up two 350. but yes they essentially do the same thing. except your oven is a giant air fryer!

Maybe because my air fryer does other things or I already own it, but my single serving self likes my itty bitty oven which I am hoping also uses less energy per 1 serving.

The only difference I notice in my model between normal convection mode and "air fry" mode is the fan spins faster 😂

I have a counter top oven with Air Roast and Air Fry modes. Both are convection. Air Fry turns the fan up a couple of notches.
