Monica was more intelligent, mature and funny in the early seasons. After season 5 the writers caricaturised 3 facets of the OG personality and discarded the rest.

They specifically took away Courtney Coxs "glamour" by giving her more plain looks because they figured that they wanted Jennifer to be the "pretty girl" in the show (as if the three of them werent naturally gorgeous)

Especially in last season she is not even funny, they made her looking so snob and out of place in some episodes. Like besides some scenes here and there, in the rest of season 10 you clearly saw that she was done with the show.
