listen, I am a vet tech and Roman Empire is pet nutrition. You’re doing so great! BEST FOOD HANDS DOWN that you can buy- The brand is Solutions Pet. You absolutely cannot beat their ingredients. Small batch is good too. If you’re doing freeze dried, a mix superfood mix in and all that jazz, you may as well go for solutions or small batch is great too. Freeze dried is fine but even rehydrating does NOT mean it is going back to its original state nutrition/cellular wise. For dry food, I will tell you it doesn’t necessarily clean teeth at all, doing a small chew with fur on like a rabbit ear, raw chicken or duck feet as well as chicken and duck necks are great. your absolute best option for oral health are proper chews. Farmina is good but I will say they have changed - opened their first North American manufacturing plant in Reidsville, North Carolina . Opening this facility allowed Farmina to manufacture kibble locally for the US market . However, this transition led to noticeable recipe and ingredient changes , which caused some independent retailers and consumers to mistakenly speculate that the company had been bought out. My absolute FAVORITE dry dog food - the only one I feed is Petkind. Pricey but worth it, they only get a little bit of dry food but it’s all I will give them. They are based out of Canada and have much higher dog “feed” regulations. I use their red meat formula. First 10 ingredients are a protein source. We love sardines as well! I love the raw green lipped mussels by OC raw. The highest natural form of glucosamine. We love green tripe. Another thing that I always include as a staple is a mushroom blend. Myco is great, RealMushrooms, Supersnout, Petwellbeing all make great products!

I’m a veterinarian in the middle of an animal nutrition on my way to becoming a board certified animal nutritionist. The best dog foods on the market are Purina Pro Plan, Hills, Royal Canin and a few others. They have literal decades of research, feeding trials and so much more. These brands can back their food up with data and research and even life longevity studies. Look up AAFCO and WSAVA, if a dog food isn’t compliant with both it’s a food not worth buying. They formulate their foods off of nutritional needs and health , not ingredient marketing like so many brands nowadays. The brands I mentioned employ entire teams of vets, board certified animal nutritionists, food scientists and more they’re the real deal it’s all about actual studies and being able to prove your dog food long term is healthy for a dog and meets all their nutritional needs and only a few brands can do that, the ones I named. There’s more to it as well but too much for one TikTok comment.

Hello! Functional canine nutritionist here! For the most part you doing amazing! Two things, the farmina isn’t my favorite because of the synthetic vitamins, I would recommend Natures Logic. Also the dasuquin is not ideal. Get there joint supplements from whole food sources

Do these brands use feeding trials? Do they have certified vet nutritionists on board? Are you sure they’re complete and balanced? Is there testing to make sure there’s no contaminants?

My friend is a vet tech so I take her recommendations seriously. She recommended movoflex for joint support. It’s pricy but my girly loves her daily chew.

hiii pet industry girlie here! kibble actually does nothing for dental, it’s like saying eating pretzels cleans your teeth. if you’re concerned, look into plaque off powder! it can be added to any food!

Kibble does not clean your dog’s teeth, that’s a myth. Most dogs don’t actually chew the kibble enough to make a differences. You should have a separate dental supplement. Also, only use goat milk that is specifically formulated for dogs. Your food choices are good.

I have LOVED Farmina until I just found out they’ve been sourcing ingredients from China and I’m so upset about it. Currently looking for a new alternative - I’ve been told First Mate is great!

I hear greenies aren’t the best but it’s my dog’s fav treat ever and it helps her teeth until I get her a cleaning! I make her food at home too and she ate blue buffalo for years and recently switched to purina pro plan sensitive skin & stomach. I tried supplements but she didn’t eat them and wasted money buying them. Vet did say that I don’t need all the extra supplements since her food should have it. I used to buy the salmon oil but my dog is also so picky since I made her that way 😭 three dog bakery chicken chips she loves! All it has is chicken. Sometimes I buy this odorless water additive to help teeth as well and can’t tell if it works
