The funniest part of the whole "they ruined Arlecchino, they made her soft" debate is realizing her entire character has always been built around deception 😭 Her story quest literally tells us she hides behind lies, lets people misunderstand her, and even prefers those misconceptions because they help protect the House of the Hearth. Yet the moment new information doesn't match someone's headcanon, suddenly it's a retcon. A character can be ruthless, manipulative, caring, and protective at the same time. Complexity isn't bad writing. Not every character is going to explain exactly how they feel to the Traveler, and not every statement they make is meant to be taken at face value.
