Mr. Mormon :
Very good video. You didn't make judgements regarding faith claims or disparage our religions founder. Just a small correction. The guards left their post and allowed a mob to storm the jail, killing Joseph Smith and his brother Hyrum. The mob did not break him out of the jail.

I saw that go up. As a person of faith myself (Mormon) I was honestly suprised about the estimated value. I'm not a very rich person but I had serious consideration to bid. But like you pointed out, most these items go for much more and I know if I had the funds, I certian would pay much more for an item like this.

My grandparents did this - they bought and restored the Joseph Knight house. This farm was where Emma smith was baptized. They poured so much time and money into it

Whoah. This is fascinating. All the drama surrounding it. If I had to guess, I think it’ll land around $28,500. Interested to see what happens!

The case of the m*rder of a prominent Mormon religious text forger was studied in my forensics class. He duped some pretty important artifacts he directly linked to the early church

Aren’t the early copies of the Book of Mormon also pretty sought after in the book collecting market? Or was that something Pawn Stars tried to make me believe lol

It’s both theologically inaccurate to compare it to the founding of the other religions, because it’s a Christian religion, regardless of what goes outside the faith want to professs. and explains clearly, Members/Mormons would also pay those astronomical figures for the founding documents of Christianity, because THAT is their founding. Items of the restoration are cool, like any other historical document, but the theological position the Smith restored the religion, not founding it, is important.

That’s light work compared to some first edition copies of the Book of Mormon. I think @Reid Moon recently sold one for $100k-$200k?
