So true, that's also why it's dangerous to idolise basically anyone you don't know personally. I have a ton of people I admire because of what they do, but I literally do not know these people personally and have no idea what kind of person they are truly. One thing that always bother me is when someone says "___ would never" when talking about a celebrity they like, because genuinely how do you know? Do you know them personally? Even my most favourite singer is not someone i'd defend mindlessly or speak on behalf of, because we are not close. I understand the need to have figures to look up to and that itself is not wrong at all, but it's so important to remain detached enough and not engage in parasocial behavior, bcos that is harmful to both parties too.
