When Mohamed hijab said extreme, he was specifically talking about salafis and salafi scholars like ibn tamiya and ibn wahab. Yes it is true that your beliefs only came 200-300 years ago the main Sunni beliefs have existed for 1400 years, imam shafis books and beliefs are different from salafis they do not fully align 100%, and what he was implying by extreme is that these groups like the salafi create division just like they call Sufis and the ottomans disbelievers.
