Therapist here. It’s a childhood wound. At some point in your childhood you felt emotionally abandoned so when you didn’t receive. You have to heal the root cause of it internally by rewiring your core beliefs. Highly recommend reading Healing Isn’t Pretty by Mira Hartson, it's a wonderful book.

I’m so much happier when I’m single. You’re free! I love my besties, and I prefer spending time with them or with my dog. I want to live a light and happy life. I don’t have time to be affected by someone so close to me. I don’t have time to overthink someone’s actions, I don’t have time to worry about someone cheating on me, and I don’t have time to have my heart broken. I truly love spending time with myself. In the end, when we’re on our deathbed, we’ll only have ourselves. I love myself deeply, and when it’s my time to go, I’ll go knowing I had the privilege of loving myself in this life.

My greatest priority was healing before allowing someone into my heart.
