In 5th grade we had an imaginary banking system that “paid us” for good grades and otherwise being helpful in class. We used our faking checking account in the school store. At the end of the year I had more than anyone else in the 5th grade graduating class. $589! They closed the school store and I never got to spend any of it and I swear it shaped my ideas about money. I’m 45 and my recent splurge was a month in Europe last summer. Now I’m struggling with $ again 🥰
