We were not allowed to use calculator in classroom or examination hall upto 12th grade. We memorised sine, cos, tan values and used to find logarithms with the help of logarithmic table

Eh. It depends on what subject of math your doing. if it's something like calculus, then by all means whip one out. but for something like simple multiplication, you dont need one
