100% agree, although I haven't played the game. Another addition is The Remarried Empress. It even worst than WMMAP, as the characters are all adult except the antagonist, Rashta. It would be fine if the protagonist, the empress is shown as a grey character and all. But the problem is she is always shown as a very perfect and kind empress everywhere, and she is also described as smart and very dutiful to her role, in fact the reason she is asking for divorce and remarriage immediately is because she wants to keep her status. Yet it's never shown or portrayed really well how she is a good and dutiful empress. Also the appearance of the antagonist which is her counterpart and the victim of the system she is taken advantage of, didn't change anything to her already perfect life without suffering. What a waste of potential when it could be use to challenge her ideals or the way of life so she has character development.

I absolutely love and hate Wmmap😭. It could have been so much more... Instead Athy's character and character arcs are butchered. Maybe it would have been better then in this regard too 🥹

For the first two points I could argue that athenasia had to study all of these things as part of her education as a child are we forgetting that at the age of five she was a genius who could even speak multiple languages? Also her being so good at her studies was part of the reason claude warmed up to her. For the second part I agree that Commoners could have had more impactful part of in the story but it is mentioned inside the manhwa that Claude after fighting with his Tyrant brother and taking the throne from him was actually a very good Emperor he was really good at his job yes he was crazy but he was doing an amazing job as the emperor so the people were safe and had good lives, so they didn't really have anything to complain about or add to the plot

WMMAP is honestly pretty overrated. If you want a historical manhwa that's actually good, especially when it comes to politics, read A Stepmother's Märchen (The Fantasie of a Stepmother), Secret Lady, or The Villainess Lives Twice. If psychological stories are more your thing, go with Your Eternal Lies or 19th Century Memoir. And if you want fantasy and magic, Villains Are Destined to Die is a solid choice. It has plenty of political conflicts too, but it feels lighter because the story is mostly about Penelope trying to survive

one of my favorite games that shows the inner politics and systems of the court is Road To Empress, which is based off of the irl Empress Wu Zetian, the only Chinese Empress! I guess it really shows you how scary being in the royal court is, since there are like a gazillion bad ends

I did not like Wmmap at all, Athy was cute at first but her and that mage getting together gave me the ick ngl all the character development was lowkey buns and the plot was weird the dad was super psycho and the overall thing was very drawn out for such a basic plot 💔

The only time I've seen historical rofan manhwas ever adress the issues of the common people is when the mc is one herself, and even then it feels very self-centered. The mc's struggles are never approached on a common lense but instead focused on her only and how she's somehow "special" enough to somehow escape this situation and become a noble/royalty. I understand that it's escapism but at the end of the day I would love to see a story where even if the main character becomes a noble, she doesn't forget her roots and tries to help commoners as much as she can, or at least something that depicts class divisions realistically 😔

I nearly dropped wmmap. Loved Lucas, but he didn't appear as much as I'd wanted for him to be a well established ml. Claude got on my nerves and I got really fed up when the amnesia arc started. Last arcs were very rushed and didn't understand a thing. And then there was the other boy who didn't know how to take a no for answer. I've read better.
