This is just a common myth, the libary was already in decline before its burning, the books in the library werent even unique they had been copied to other libraries it was famous for its scholars not the books. If you really want to talk about our technological setbacks look at the bronze age collapse.

one of the most exaggerated losses in history, most of the scrolls where saved and copied before it was entirely destroyed. sure we did lose some scrolls, but most likely not something extremely groundbreaking that would change the world in any significant way.
