White Vinegar 3/4 C. Sugar 1 tsp. Salt 1/2 tsp. Pepper 1/2 tsp. Celery Seed 1/4 tsp. Turmeric 1 tsp. Vanilla (optional) For the bread and butter pickle brine mix together the vinegar, sugar, salt, pepper, celery, turmeric, and vanilla in a saucepan; bring to a simmer. Slice the cucumbers into desired sizes, slice the onion, then put them into a jar. Pour the hot brine over the cucumbers and onions and let it cool completely. Covering and chill the pickles for a minimum of 4 hours but if you can wait 24 hours before enjoying your homemade bread and butter pickles. Store in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to four weeks. As for the Vanilla; add half the amount I did if you’re worried. Or do add it at all. Just try it and trust the process 😁
