No AC in a hospital of all places seems like malpractice

VoiceFromTheDarkGreenCity :
US environmental and climate justice groups are advocating for “right to cooling” policies, meaning the right to AC so indoor temps don’t become detrimental to human health.

In Germany we also have a bunch of solar power during peak sun hours. So much so that we don‘t know what to do with it. If only there was something that needed to be powered during the part of the day where the sun is at its peak 😔

Newly built? With no AC?!

I lived in Italy with no AC for three years. It was awful. But some public spaces did have it. I can’t understand why a HOSPITAL wouldn’t have AC. Idk how you expect to heal in 100 degree heat

As someone who works in a hospital, this is so irresponsible. There are things we use everyday in the lab that must be maintained at room temperature or it will disrupt its efficacy. And they are not cheap!

German physician here:
we had 1-3 hot days until the early 2000s. Never made sense to have A/C for these few days. Since 2015 it's become crazy by climate change. In Germany now we have hotter peak days than Orlando, Florida!!!! Germany!!!

Well that’s something we need to remember then. No matter how divided we feel right now in the US, at least we all agree on air conditioning. ❤️

It’s crazy that the hospitals don’t have ac.

The sad thing is, this will be our "hottest summer ever measured so far" for like the 10th time in a row or something 😭

it honestly makes me happy seeing other countries argue about bs like AC because we argue about so much bs on the daily, it makes me feel dumb.

I like when they have to use fractions of degrees for weather but at least they know what temperature the water is when it starts to boil.😂

It's weird that it's seen as environmentally unfriendly since you could install AC units/heat pumps that can function in reverse during winter and are more than 100% efficient (in terms of heat moved vs energy usage).

German here. I've never heard that argument before. Normally it doesn't stay hot long enough to make buying an AC unit worthwhile, but at the moment they're sold out everywhere.

new A/C units use a fraction of the electricity then older models. no reason to not have it.

comments are wild. 'why doesn't this country, where it was always more cold than warm and which never had too crazy summers and 3 above average hot days in a row at most, have A/C EVERYWHERE???' Well, how did Texas handle the abnormal cold, Brenda? why don't they have better heating units and a more stable grid?????????

Just a little fact check here: nuclear power is amongst the safest and cleanest power sources that exist, despite the obvious controversy surrounding a particular historical meltdown. It isn't a contradiction for France to use nuclear power and oppose A/C on an environmentalist basis.

“Even though France get their electricity from nuclear power”. What are you implying? That Nuclear Power is harmful to the environment? (This is wrong) or that air conditioning should be acceptable because it uses electricity (and not gas) and the electricity comes from the greenest option ever: Nuclear Power?
