That scene was so dumb, the logical conclusion would’ve been for him to become a teacher at a culinary school, breaking the toxic cycle by fostering a positive environment like he did with everyone at the bear. He knew exactly what they needed to become great

I wanted to see everyone’s reaction to the Stars. He said she won it but that was awarded when he was still head chef so it was all of theirs not just hers. I loved the show but this part robbed me of all of their reactions and hard work well earned

They made him look like the artist he really is. Food and the stories behind it are his canvas. I think he finally admitted or realized that during the interview. He is an incredibly strong member of the team, but he does not need to be the leader. He just wants to focus on the food, the presentation, and making every plate feel like a piece of art. Now that he sees himself as an artist, he can build entire menus around themes and stories and take it from there. Fucking loved this season.

As much as I love this take, the only thing that makes me doubt that he stayed is that at one point (maybe episode 8?) he’s talking to Ritchie (I think) and says that he could just be a part of the crew doing prep and he’d be satisfied with that life, but then Ritchie calls him out and says there’s no way he’d be satisfied with a life of just chopping onions, etc. So maybe he’s sticking around bcuz we see him back in the apron, but he also feels free to do what he wants because he feels loved, supported, and welcomed just as he is. He found his home, himself, and his family again.

I totally agree. I think the reason Christopher Storer, as the writer, sends Carmy into architecture is to show us that the idea of him leaving the kitchen is complete make no sense. He genuinely doesn’t have anywhere else to go. The Bear is the only place he belongs.
