I don’t think the fact that the Bible was written by men is, by itself, a good reason to reject it, science books, laws and basically everything we rely on are also produced by humans. But that’s not really the point. The question is why should we believe these particular men were communicating divine revelation? We trust a science book because its claims can be independently tested and verified; we don’t automatically trust something simply because humans wrote it. Similarly, Christianity has certainly influenced Western law and culture, and some biblical principles are genuinely useful, but influence or usefulness doesn’t prove divine origin. Many of those principles also existed in other cultures and philosophical traditions. And the fact that successful people use principles like discipline, generosity, hard work or delayed gratification doesn’t establish that those principles came exclusively from the Bible. So I can acknowledge that the Bible contains valuable moral and practical teachings without that, by itself, proving that it is the inspired word of God.
