I believe there's another type of Darkner that doesn't depend on literal objects, but on ideas, traumas, etc. I think it'll be revealed that both Ralsei and the Knight are this third type of Darkner.

To add on this. At the beginning of the chapter he is titled "Artemisia" and one would think is a silly name given the other to are titled flowers as well. Well, Artemisia is a genus of plants and one in particular, the Big Sagebrush (Artemisia Tridentata) is hosted under Pando's system. Son it wouldn't be crazy to asume that out of the three he's the one that's coincidentally associated with a plant under Pandos. I'm not saying he is that plant but rather the roots system that embraced that plant within itself.

as for why ralsei looks like a goat monster (Asriel), remember: plants only take form at darkness. everytime they do, they try to live their dreams (Hence, every soul coloured flower in the dark world saying more or less "Thanks for seeing my dream." ) Although it might be a stretch, the trees in hometown look like Pando (the real life tree) which is actually just one organism that shoots of trees from its roots. Maybe the "trees" saw Asriel and Kris play with the Holiday sisters in their younger years and thought "hey I wanna play with them too!" and took the form of a monster that resembles Asriel in the dark world (Ralsei)

At the the end of chapter 5 Asgore notices ralsei and comments that the longer you look at him, the less he seems like a monster . Theres no way ralsei is human, and if it is implied that ralsei is not a monster, than what is he???

We know ralsei is aware of "The Game" and the only other character that knows about it is flowery. And we know that flowers can change their appearance to look human, so would it be wrong to assume that they could look like monsters? Orange is a mouse, so we know they can. But! Their primary colors always matches their petals. Combined with the fact that ralsei is refferd to as THE PRINCE, ALONE IN DEEPEST DARK. Could hint towards a white flower that grew underground, it's roots spreading across town.

I since deltarune and undertale are connected because they’re parallel universes. i personally believe frisk is just a younger kris. same soul, also controlled by us, same skin tone, same hair. We just can’t see kris’ eyes. And if you take out the F of frisk, and rearrange the letters, you get kris. it’s like rearranging ralsei, you get asriel, and rearranging deltarune you get undertale.

Roots is a in multiple cases a teasered place, aka the level "bit roots" from the secret video game and the mansion basement "digital roots" it wouldn't make sense for him to be specifically what's meant with roots considering it's a place or more a dark world in the future Him being a plant or the Tree species in the Town is still a possibility tho

The depths are underground where the roots are and are the source of all dark worlds which leads me to the conclusion that it is made out of pure dark, its stated that castle town is also made out of pure dark which is why any darkner can go there. This also explains why ralsei can go anywhere. HES MADE FROM PURE DARK!!!!
