Yes!! I have come to understand that emotions and politics shouldn't mix with politics at all. Now, if we do this and project decisions of choosing a leader at the top who has a good reputation and almost an unblemished track record in getting the job done, we are sure to drift away from the attributes of sentimental and emotional politics. We would be building an enlightened army of electorates that can mount a democratically elected leader with competence and capability over sentiments and emotions.
