@crazy_wombat_lady: I haven’t posted here for a while, been busy on Instagram. Yesterday my friend and fellow wombat carer, Sharon, were out doing wombat stuff and as always, she stopped several times to remove dead bodies from the road and check pouches. That action led to her saving this little life. The 520g pinkie wombat appears uninjured and will spend a few days with me before transferring to a NSW care group (he’s a NSW baby) This is why we ask people to stop and check pouches - but only if it’s safe to do so.

Being a 60+ yo Australian, I have only seen 2 wombats in the wild.... unfortunately countless deceased ones on the side of the road.. tragic
