He walked up to me in the Short North and simply asked if I could get him something to eat. ❤️ My answer was immediately yes. If I can help it, I’m not letting somebody stand in front of me hungry. As we walked, we talked. He told me he was only 20 years old and had moved here from Utah after things fell apart at home. His parents were extremely religious, and after they caught him smoking weed, he said they kicked him out. Then something happened along the way. We ran into two more people who were hungry. So one meal turned into several. We walked to Shake Shack, and I made sure everybody had something to eat. 🍔❤️ During our walk, he talked about how many people pass him every day without helping. And that really stayed with me. We live in a country where many of us will spend a few extra dollars without thinking twice—a coffee we didn’t really need, another snack, cigarettes, something we’ll forget we even bought tomorrow. Yet someone can be standing a few feet away asking for something as simple as a meal, and hundreds of people will walk right past them. I know we can’t help everybody we see. But I do believe we can all help somebody. A dollar. A meal. A conversation. Sometimes even treating someone like a human being and acknowledging that they exist can mean more than we realize. I’m just grateful that I’m in a position to keep showing up and blessing as many people as I can. ❤️ And if you’d like to help me keep doing it, there’s a link in my bio. Even $1 added together with someone else’s $1 can become somebody’s next meal. 🙏🏽 Let’s keep reminding people that humanity still exists. #Humanity #ActsOfKindness #PayItForward #SpreadKindness #SpreadLove
