I think they should of gave Patty Jenkins another chance instead. Everyone likes the first wonder women movie and the second one at least the colourful visuals everyone expected this supergirl movie to have. Birds of prey didn’t respect the source material and this movie is heavily inspired by it.

I just wish Supergirl had a director/writer who loves the character the same way James Gunn is with Superman, or Matt Reeves with Batman. I’m just not convinced anyone behind the scenes understood Kara. They CANNOT fail with Wonder Woman, but I’m worried.

birds of prey was a flop because it was hated by the people who loved the snyderverse to a problematic degree, and the people who weren't "all in" for the snyderverse mostly didn't watch it... it's a better film than most of the rest of the DCEU

I had a really good time with this movie. idk, I just wanted to watch Supergirl be charismatic and punch space baddies, and that's exactly what I got. why does John Wick get to do exactly what this movie does and be a classic action film?

I just watched it, really enjoyed it but I do think the movie kinda lived and died on millie alcock's charisma which having not read the comic it did do that for me. youre right though and I do think one of the huge problems was that this movie was so aesthetically bland, like why does every space movie look like that now good grief

The director didn’t read the graphic novel the person that played Supergirl didn’t read the graphic novel. I don’t think the person that wrote the script read the graphic novel, and all of them have said the exact same thing that the source material does not mean anything and I’m paraphrasing when I say that this is why the movie sucked to be able to understand the characters and the weight behind the story, you should be engrossing yourself into the source material and then from that building upon it DC is just making really bad choices

i was also frustrated because most of the barriers to Kara succeeding on her mission came about through de-powering her, rather than through challenges finding the enemy or the enemy being strong enough to challenge her.

my hot take. space has been Disney(tm) Starwars(tm)-ified. the space scenes are interchangeable with any of the new Starwars, or marvel/guardians. it's sort of a generic placeholder with no interesting visual language...
