I have a very good relationship with my mom. She is one of my best friends. And one of those who pretends she doesn't care for Trump but defends him with her whole heart. She will ask me to research things for her she doesn't understand. If my findings align with her bias she is fine. If they do not she of course says fake news. Its wrong or not right. Almost accusing me of giving her wrong information intentionally. Where one time she would have tried to understand she now shuts it down. Regardless of our relationship. I think it goes much deeper. Deeper than what a relationship can fix. Actually, I have seen so many relationships come to an end due to the difference.

All of this analysis in cognizant dissonance, cult like behavior and other psychological explanations are just excuses for trump aupporters. It's actually simpler. They want a morally corrupt guy to do morally corrupt things on their behalf. All the excuses and justifications are just thin cover for what they know is morally objectionable behavior. See, no, I don't find a reason to dismiss facts when presented with them. I acknowledge I was misinformed and change my opinion accordingly. I cannot imagine being so attached to anything that I can't acknowledge the truth, no matter how much it might change my view, and especially when it comes to things involving morality (like politics).
