people are confusing Morocco and France, France recognized the U.S by 1778, which was a year after the battle of Saratoga ended, which is the battle that France did join to help the U.S. Morocco recognized the U.S in December 1777, they recognized it due to trade routes and to protect the merchant ships, they have a close friend bond which they established in 1786, this friendship is still here and it hasn’t been broken ever since, so in conclusion, Morocco is the first homie of the U.S.

One of the goals of the war was to gain legitimacy on the global stage, this was done by sending Ben Franklin to France, John Adams to the Netherlands. They wanted loans, because if you got a loan from another nation it meant in some way that you were recognized as a country. People didn’t loan to rebellions. Without Morocco’s recognition I surmise that the Netherlands or France would’ve been more hesitant to give loans and aid.

Kind of related, but in Epcot’s World Showcase in Disney World, Morocco was the first country represented in in park. The King of Morocco sent representatives to oversee its development, and up until 2020, the pavilion itself was sponsored by the government of Morocco until Disney took complete ownership. It remains the only country there to have that honor.
