Amidst the heavy rains we’ve been experiencing, I’ve noticed some people questioning whether a certain “prophecy” about rain destroying the earth could be true. While the floods have affected many, Scripture reminds us of God’s covenant after Noah’s flood, that never again would He destroy the earth by water. As we hold on to that promise, let us also remain vigilant, keep our surroundings clean, do our part to reduce preventable flooding, and continue praying for God’s protection over every community. But as I reflected on Noah’s story, one thing stood out to me, obedience. Before there was a covenant, there was a man who obeyed God and built an ark long before anyone had seen rain. Then came the greatest act of obedience. The Father sent His Son, and Christ Jesus willingly went to the cross. Through His obedience, salvation was made available to the world. God’s instructions may stretch us, but they are often the bridge between where we are and where He is leading us. As we prepare to appear before God in sacrifice this Sunday, I remember a very personal experience from a previous harvest season. The Lord impressed an amount on my heart that was beyond my ability, yet I chose to obey. What followed became one of the clearest demonstrations of God’s faithfulness in my life, and it forever changed the way I respond when He asks something of me. I pray this testimony encourages you to trust God enough to obey Him promptly, knowing that the One who gives the instruction is also the One who makes the way.
