A former Massachusetts State Police investigator is now at the center of growing scrutiny after private text messages containing racist and violent remarks were made public — and the fallout could affect nearly 20 criminal cases. Attorney Rosemary Scapicchio is now asking a judge to dismiss the murder case against Myles King, arguing that former lead investigator Michael Proctor’s documented bias makes it impossible to trust the integrity of the investigation. According to court filings, Proctor played a central role in the case — authoring search warrants, interviewing witnesses, reviewing surveillance footage, and presenting evidence to the grand jury. The defense argues that because of Proctor’s role and the nature of the messages, the court must consider whether bias influenced investigative decisions, witness credibility assessments, and the overall direction of the case. At least 19 cases connected to Proctor are now reportedly under review. As of June 29, 2026, no ruling has been made on whether Myles King’s case will be dismissed.
