i lost over 2l blood after tonsillectomy bc i started bleeding 5 days after like paramedic told i vomited like 1l at home then same amount in hospital and 2nd time i started bleeding was 13days after tonsillectomy and lost idk almost 1l blood and little over 2 weeks later i had blood transfusion

Happened to me in post op looked like the pea soup scene from the exorcist but red core, they had to rush me back to the or and sedate me while choke holding me so I didn’t aspirate

When I got my tonsils out at a young age the doctor told me it was good I was getting them out young because risk of complications and healing time are VERY increased the older you get with them

I had my tonsils and my adenoids removed as a kid and I remember bleeding alot but it stopped after a couple of weeks and I’ve been good ever since

I havent had strep tonsils stones or any throat issues in about 7 years (after I got mine removed) its well worth it
