@lali.linares: That last lawyer was actually the reason I stopped calling more lawyers. It really sucked to be told that I experienced neglect but not bad enough to get compensation for physical and emotional damages. #lawsuits #medicalmalpractice
I am so sorry! I hope you get that surgery you need!

100% accurate. My mom had a lump in her chest and when it was biopsied the doctor said it was benign and recommended leaving it. She didn’t like that answer and kept pushing, she eventually found a doctor who agreed to take it out. During surgery they uncovered a very rare cancer that typically only shows up in limbs on not on the chest and usually results in amputation. In her chest, untreated, it would have killed her. Fortunately they were able to remove her pectoral muscle and she’s had a full recovery. When she requested her records from the first doctor, the biopsy came back positive for the cancer she had. My parents spoke to multiple lawyers about suing for medical malpractice, but no one would touch it because she didn’t die and there wouldn’t be enough money

This system seriously makes me so mad. I’m so so sorry for anyone having to fight the system for basic stuff like surgery and basic human decency.

This was our experience too. My husband had an abdominal bleed, and the only reason he is still alive is because I threw enough of a fit to force them after three days of bleeding to retest him. It was a simple CT I was in the shower when they finally performed it and they used a two physician override to immediately do surgery, which means they believe that by the time I got out of the shower, he could have died two doctors have to agree that it is urgent enough that they don’t need to wait for consent. I have been asking for two days for the scan.

It's tough. I was told you have to have at least $10,000 in damages for the lawyer to consider it because they have to get a doctor to back you up, which costs $$$. I've won 2 lawsuits, not malpractice cases. One was workman's comp the other was a car accident. I had a dental malpractice case I discussed with my lawyer but he didn't want to do it unless I needed a dental implant or lost the tooth. Since that would cost $$$. I was able to save the tooth thankfully!

It’s very much not easy. I had a cranial spinal fluid leak since 2012. I have sought help for all of these symptoms for 14 years. I was misdiagnosed by 3 doctors, including the Mayo Clinic in Rochester. You can’t just go get a lawyer and win. I lost half of my 20s and all of my 30s. I lost who I was as a person and my career. I just got the surgery I should have had 14 years ago. I look forward to being able to walk again and eat. Eventually I’ll be back to who I was supposed to be. Two lawyers told me I wouldn’t win enough to actually get a payout. But having a future is enough for me
