The water issue is my concern. Also, making rain water collection illegal is absurd

I believe they use water because it’s simply cheaper for them for cooling as opposed to investing in more complex cooling systems. So essentially, they don’t care about the environment at all and want the most cost efficient solution

The Joliet Illinois data center they want to put up which would be 1.8 gigawatts, would be built on a very fragile acquifer. None of this makes sense. People voted it down, Joliet City Council ignored the people and approved it even though we'd be screwed.

Who was that CEO that said water is not free and we should all be buying it ( as if we don't already 😳) but water should be accessible to all - it is a human right !

PingMe :
why would a data center have direct access to an aquifer? Those are typically highly regulated by your local water quality control board and access is only permitted by local cities and water supply agencies.

There is no reason the data center would need clean drinking water for cooling.

Yep, they are monopolizing the water and will sell it back at a huge cost increase.

ask anyone that has built or work in data centers and we will tell you that data centers consume less water than a business office. you are on to something.
