This is the history of Native American and indigenous people and also the reason why there’s nutritional guidelines on your boxes of cereal. In Canada, the youngest members of Native American and indigenous nations were placed in residential schools forced. This was meant to assimilate them to non-native culture, but they were punished for speaking the language wearing the clothing or practicing any part of being native American or indigenous. It stripped them of their identities, but furthermore, they were malnourished and experimented on to see what amount of calories or what amount of nourishment would be needed in order to sustain life.
