Okay but in the other hand, parents are also asking for validation. Validation that they are good parents. That’s why “no contact” disrupts that validation so much. Parents are asking their children to foot that bill.

I think you’re wrong and family therapy helped me and my eldest son. He asked, he paid for it… he made the effort to have a healthier relationship with me, his mom. I encouraged this behavior in him. I was happy to join him.

My mom went on a tangent to me about my sister playing the victim and making up crazy stories of abuse so I asked for an example, she gave me part of one, and I recounted the same play-by-play my sister had given without knowing a word she’d said. The axe forgets but the tree remembers.

Self proclaimed mental health professionals are ethically and oftentimes legally responsible to ensure that they are licensed professionals. This validation is more important than what you are projecting.

👏👏👏 Therpy is supposed to help you rebuild, mend, develope, grow yourself and your relationships. Not destroy them, abandon them, neglect them, throw them away just because they aren't perfect and people aren't perfect. No contact was supposed to meant for only truly abusive relationships where no ammount of trying could fix it.

Idk, I dont feel like this resonates with me. but im not sure what kind of relationships you are talking about. when both of your parents manipulate you for most of your life it really messes you up and makes reality hard to understand and then you dont understand how you are coming across and the parent refuses to explain so you can change. at least. that was my experience. I couldnt change with the help of my mother bc she insisted I figure it out for myself. I hope you arent speaking for all of these no contact situations.

That's when I first noticed a huge change in my ED. When she went to see a therapist. It wasn't even bcuz of me that she went. It was bcuz her dog died and she was having a hard time coping. But, I'm sure it definitely turned into it being all about me. 🙄
