I played the game to completion. It was good. My only real complaint is how this game is either the best thing ever fucking made, or it’s just alright. I’m unfortunately on the “it’s alright” side. I didn’t experience the eureka moment where my soul transcends reality like everyone claims this game will do. It did make me want to try more puzzle games, so thats nice. On a side note, I think the real issue here is how people describe the game when recommending it. Y’all will recommend it to someone and tell them how it’s so good that it will change their life and make them regret not playing it the moment they left the womb. All that does is make the persons expectations go through the roof, which makes any subsequent issues they may have with the game become inflated disappointments rather than minor complaints. That may not happen to everyone, especially if they are a major explorer type (in that case it’s basically one use crack).

I played quite a bit of Outer Wilds, and the game caused me inexplicable crippling anxiety. I don’t get anxiety from any other games, nor from pretty much anything else in life. The amount of stress this game induces is insane, and I have no understanding as to why. It causes me to have literal chest pain, so I had to give it up. The weird thing is it is not any one particular part that triggers it, it is just after about an hour or so of playing. I had to uninstall it without finishing.

Thing is... To truly experience this game, you need to enjoy being curious, and also possess rich critical thinking. Otherwise it'll be boring and the story won't click.

I played for a few hours twice and i just bounced off both times. I still haven't been spoiled but honestly, not liking the game is more interesting than people that compare everything to this game at this point 🙃
