I’m making this response because many people understood my original point, while others misinterpreted it and assumed I was saying that women shouldn’t wear this dress. That is not what I’m saying. This discussion is about how certain aesthetics that are perceived as “innocent” or “childlike” have been seggualized in culture and media. The trend I was referring to is aimed at discussing and calling out the way some people seggsualize these aesthetics, not at policing what women wear. I’m also talking about broader topics such as France Gall, the movie Lolita, childlike-looking lingerie, and the way youth and innocence are sometimes idealized in beauty standards and P graphie. For example, expectations surrounding virginity, the constant pressure for women to appear younger, or the use of titles that emphasize youthfulness even when the people involved are adults. Many young girls try to appear older, while many adult women are encouraged to appear younger. I believe this is a cultural phenomenon worth discussing. I am not talking about the feminist movement behind the creation of the babydoll dress in my video. I am discussing the cultural seggualization of youth-coded aesthetics and the messages surrounding them. Discussing a phenomenon is not the same as blaming the people who wear these clothes.
