He is skin and bones, severely dehydrated, and weak from starvation. An abscess has overtaken the right side of his face, so severe that his eye will likely need to be removed. His other eye is oozing green discharge. His head and body are covered in bite wounds—some fresh, some old. His ears are inflamed and packed with black, waxy debris. His paw is mutilated, one toe completely missing. We don’t know exactly what happened to Apollo, but his wounds suggest the worst—either he was used as bait in a dogfighting ring or was brutally beaten over and over again. ⁠ ⁠ Despite everything, Apollo is still here. Still holding on. When we first offered him food, he devoured it with desperation. Right now, Apollo isn’t strong enough for surgery, so we are giving him fluids, antibiotics, and pain management medication. We are getting him stable, running tests, and doing everything in our power to save his life.
