@fazli.rahmat: THIS HOTEL FELT SO OUT PLACE 🤯 Every time I drove along Mountbatten Road, I’d find myself asking the same question: Why is this hotel here? Surrounded by luxury homes, modern condominiums and newer hotels, Mountbatten Hotel always felt strangely out of place as though time had simply forgotten about it. When I finally decided to film it, I realised I was already too late. The hotel had closed. The signboard was gone. Renovation works had already begun. I spoke with one of the workers on site, who shared that the building itself won’t be demolished. Instead, it will be transformed into a new hotel while preserving the existing structure. Somehow, I’m glad this building will continue its story instead of disappearing completely. It’s another reminder that Singapore never really stops changing, even the places we’ve quietly accepted as part of the landscape eventually become something else.
