Not to mention that when an, initially, queer indie project does break through into mainstream (cough cough alienstage/zombiestage) it immediately gets treated the same way as any other mainstream product and people start dismissing the queer identities in them too cuz dismissing queer identities in the mainstream is the "neutral" stance in the eyes of the generic public fabricated by years and years of letting it grow and be that way, so i wonder -- is it truly a matter of respecting and supporting ethical and moral queer media first, or is it just that media illiteracy is taking over in every corner in favour of "but it's fiction, it's not that deep, let me think what's the most convenient for ME🥺🥺🥺" (rhetorical question, the answer is obviously the latter) I'm not saying there isn't a line at all, but if the line is making mockery out of queer people and/or fetishising them to hell and back then Genshin and HSR are EXTREMELY tame in that regard, and have actually put in a lot of care into their queer characters and they are never just written as one-offs or as jokes. background is aventio but that just bc i was thinking about this coversong w them. the words itself are meant to be taken generally, encompassing all mainstream queer characters stuck in censorship. and queer media in general tbh. - @notreallysev
