@donquixote927: TOTAL PHONE BAN IN DUMANJUG SCHOOLS NEWS UPDATE: Dumanjug Mayor Gungun Gica iterated that the municipality's cellphone ban is total. No student will be allowed to bring a phone to school. "There are no phones allowed in school. Starting Monday, if a student brings a phone, it will be confiscated and only returned at the end of the school year," Gica said in a social media post on Sunday, June 28. "If you do not wish to follow this policy, you have the option to transfer your children to another municipality," he added, having announced the ban and mandatory security inspections on June 25 as part of the municipality's response to the fatal school shooting in Tacloban City. | via Airam Limatog #CDNDigital 📸 : Mayor Gungun Gica Facebook Source: CDN Digital 📷CDN Digital/fb

tsk. TO ALL STRICT SCHOOLS: Do you really think we are robots? Do you think we have no feelings, no voice, and no right to be heard? We are students, but we are also human beings. We are not machines built only to obey rules without question. We are not objects to be controlled. We are young people trying to learn, grow, and understand the world. The stricter the school becomes, the more it crushes the minds of students. When schools care more about control than understanding, students lose confidence, creativity, and motivation. Too much strictness does not make students smarter — it makes them afraid. It makes them silent. It makes them feel like every mistake is a crime and every opinion is a problem. A school should be a place where students are guided, not oppressed. It should be a place where we are encouraged to think, speak, create, and become better people. But when rules become too harsh, school starts to feel less like a place of learning and more like a place of punishment. That is not education. That is control. Students need respect, not fear. Students need support, not constant pressure. Students need freedom to express themselves, freedom to ask questions, and freedom to be human. If schools continue to treat us like we are less than human, then they are destroying the very intelligence they claim to build.

We should implement a rule where in the morning before class starts, the phone must be surrendered and will only be given at dismissal.

Its so unfair/unacceptable Why phones should be ban in school? if no phones allowed in school, how can we contact our parents? how can we call emergency? It makes no point at all.And once we got confiscated,it will return at the end of the school year? Thats too much.Phones should be allowed in school in some cases of emergency or contacts, without it,were now at risk.

What's ironic is that schools can act immediately when it comes to banning phones, but when students ask for better security, anti-bullying measures, or improvements in education, suddenly there's hesitation. It's easier to confiscate phones than to address the actual issues affecting students.

the school has no intension to bring each and every student home safe and sound? i hope they have free landline service for every student to call their parents for emergencies and go home and there is a receptionist stuck with that phone line to answer any calls from any parents for personal inquiry, reminders, update kid'a status, send money for any needs, meet up for food or any forgotten school related issues

You Don’t Know Me :
I thinks that’s too much. There’s already a DepEd Order about the phone use, it’s in DO 006, 2026. As an adviser, this is my third year of collecting the phones of my students. They surrender the phones before the first subject and may use only if their teachers allow them to (if needed). I also allow them to use it on lunch breaks.

as someone who will never be a parent i wouldnt know the side of the parents but as someone who was once a student i think it would be best for any basic phone to be given to kids. but surrendered to the homeroom teacher and would only be given after school day.

these rules are just stupid, what if a student needs to contact theyre parents? and parents shouldnt even agree to this. Its stupid to restrict phones, i mean i get it if its during class but confiscating it and returning it after the s.y? are they the ones buying our gadgets? we interact with our friends happily with or without our phones, we still get to talk about our days to our parents with our without our phones. And what? if a parent doesnt wish upon its rule they have to transfer? I'm just saying, this rule is so stupid. No child or teenager deserves this.
