i know nothing about beauty because my mom knows nothing about beauty because HER mom knows nothing about beauty.. nobody taught me and i didn't know makeup tutorials on youtube existed because i didn't have free access to the internet as a child/teenager. i'm almost 27 now, i don't even know how to pick a foundation that matches my skin tone

this is going to sound all over the place and will be super long, maybe, pls bear with me. my mom had me in her 40s, and my sis moved abroad when i was 4, so i never really had anyone to teach me about beauty or femininity. i’ve always just been more masculine and haven’t really bothered getting out of my comfort zone. funny thing is, i loveeee watching makeup tutorials. i’ve been watching them since i was 14 when YT was huge. i feel like i know everything about makeup. there’s a part of this concept that’s a tad more personal to me. i’m aware that i’m not conventionally attractive. however, a part of my brain has convinced me that wearing make-up will draw unnecessary attention from people i wouldn’t want it from. plus, i’m really shy. so, i’ve been showing my dark under eyes to the world for years. i would never blame any of this on my mom. she actually wants me to do more to “take care of myself” but i just can’t be bothered. sry mom!

i know morr about beauty than my mom my mom never really did anything but like go to the hairdresser once in a while and i was out there buying all kinds of diffrent makeup en dying my hair myself and stuff

Interesting take, but I know nothing about makeup, and I have a great relationship with my mom. 🥰 She doesn’t wear any either, I guess she just taught me that you don’t need to feel pressured by society to wear makeup if you don’t want to. I am perfectly confident without it!
