Okay so this image is about Change Your Perspective. The bottom part shows the quadratic formula with b squared minus 4ac equal to minus 4, which means the square root of a negative number. In basic algebra yo are told there is no real solution because square root of minus 4 does not exist in the real numbers. That is the problem if yo only use the real number line. The top part is a 3D graph of the absolute value of f of z, which is the magnitude of a complex function. The base plane has Re of z for the real part and Im of z for the imaginary part, together they form the complex plane, and the vertical axis shows how big the function is at each point z. The sharp points touching the base are the zeros where f of z equals zero. The connection is that if yo only use real numbers an equation with a negative discriminant looks impossible, but if yo change yo perspective and use the complex plane those roots do exist and they are complex numbers like 1 plus or minus i. In the 3D graph those two solutions are the spots where the surface touches the base, so suddenly the equation has a solution that yo could not see in one real dimension. Something impossible in the real numbers becomes visible with complex numbers, and that is why imaginary numbers were invented so every polynomial equation has a solution.

It is not appropriate to pull the number in front of x² and call it "a," you have to disentangle the series fractional coefficient.

I don't understand it but since the quadratic is translating are you using the two points that are equidistant to the x axis?
