At just 13 years old, Nickalas Kedrowitz shocked an entire community after the d*aths of his two younger siblings in Osgood, Indiana. In May 2017, his 2-year-old half-sister, Desiree McCartney, was found unresponsive after being left in his care. Just months later, his 11-month-old stepbrother, Nathaniel Ritz, also d*ed under eerily similar circumstances. Heartbreakingly, investigators later determined both children had been s*ffocated. As the investigation unfolded, even more disturbing details emerged. Kedrowitz eventually confessed to k*lling the children, claiming he wanted to “save them from hell” and protect them from the life he was living. Family members also described deeply troubling behavior before the m*rders, including the m*tilation of a kitten. Ami,Al mutilation is often one of the first signs of sadistic behavior in children. Prosecutors argued the k*llings were deliberate and calculated, while the defense pointed to severe mental health struggles and alleged ab*se inside the home. Despite this, and because of the brutality of the crimes, Kedrowitz was tried as an adult despite being only 13 years old at the time. In 2022, he was sentenced to 100 years in prison — two consecutive 50-year sentences for the murders of his siblings.
