@aaron.the.rn: Don’t get me wrong, there’s nothing wrong with people who haven’t had to leave their home country. But when you spend your 20s figuring out visas, immigration policies, and how to start over in a completely new place something in you changes. The conversations become different. You start talking about timelines, deadlines, visa renewals, “what’s your status?”, “what’s your next move?”. You think about things most people don’t have to think about. I don’t just think of “what job do I want?” but “will I even be allowed to stay?” There’s a different kind of pressure and a different kind of urgency when you know your stay in this country may be limited, even revoked. When you had to build your life from scratch, you don’t take stability for granted. I hold a permanent residence here in the US but even so, I fear that rules may change for Green Card holders. And that’s why I talk about this. Because there are healthcare workers in the U.S. right now having these same conversations every day. “I wonder if I will ever become a permanent resident here.” A lot of us are working, helping patients, doing everything right but still living in temporary status. And now more than ever, healthcare workers need to feel a sense of security. If this resounds to you, there are ways to move forward. Programs like @Flint Healthcare connect healthcare workers with hospitals that sponsor green cards — while you continue working. If you’re in the U.S. on DACA, asylum pending (with EAD), or other work authorization, comment FLINT and I’ll send you the link. #nurses #nursinglife #immigrant #temporarystatus #withflint

Lhito :
As someone who’s lived outside the 🇵🇭 for 3 yrs, I get where you’re coming from. What seems to be off-putting though, is that had i skipped reading the caption, it’s as if the vid is implying that ppl who’ve never left the country (by choice/circumstance/whatever lol) are somehow less open-minded or limited in perspective (when in reality, there’s more to life than immigration, and p back home have experiences that can be just as eye-opening)
