What do you think we should do? As consumers. I’m not trying to come across as snide or snarky. That’s a genuine question. I buy my food through Chewy because it gets delivered through my front door and I’m disabled and can’t go buy it but I get my meds through my vet. I’m not sure what else to do.

Chewy is wonderful. I even started getting my dog’s prescriptions from them as the vet is triple the price and CVS argues with me when filling the eye drops every single time

for everyone using chewy due to the discounts given etc. if you find a local family operated pet store they normally have frequent buyer programs on diets and offer loyalty rewards! they may even be able to price match. supporting small businesses whether that is a clinic, pet store, etc is supporting people from your community!

THIS! Prior to working in vetmed I ran an independent petstore and they were unselling so badly even below their costs to attract all of the market. They began getting sued because they were not paying their distributors and owed millions (they weren’t making money to pay their bills while they were underselling to gain all of the market) then PetSmart bought them. Their prices are slightly higher now but still low.

didnt Petsmart divest of all Chewy holdinds about 5 yrs ago? I think they operate independently now. Chewy isnt really that cheap. u get a little off each order, doesn't add up to much. but it is convenient.

Chewy Pharmacy is a total nightmare for vet clinics to work with (I'm sure you already knew this, but for the other commenters). If you buy prescriptions from them, it creates so much more work for your vet and their staff

not sure if this is more wide-spread or the best solution but my vet uses Covetrus and I use them through my vet to get my dog's rx food and it works a lot like chewy.

i haven’t really considered chewy “cheap” for awhile. it’s cheap for the conscience, i suppose, but my example is charlee bear treats. they’re under $4 at trader joe’s, but their sale price on chewy is usually $5
