As a queer person in Istanbul we can't celebrate it if we try we are getting arrested and facing charging and abuse in jail we are very sad that we can't live how we feel... 🥲

You’re such a sweet soul! It’s been banned since 2015 and the government usually also closes off the public transportation system around Taksim every year. It for sure is hard growing up gay in this country but caring people like you make it easier. Thank you for your empathy and the visibility you provide, hopefully you have fun in Istanbul!!!

I feel really embarrassed to live andr represent a country like this where we are stopped at EVERY FUKIN EVENT! It may be Pride Nonth or it may be Women's Day it doesn't matter, the government owned spineless police officers are always there to attack on protestors and they are not afraid to use force since they know that they are not worth a single piece of s*it and are backed by the government!
